ONE DAY KUMIHIMO CLASS with JAN BUDAY The student will learn a basic round braid with eight strands. The class will cost $20 per person plus supplies: kumihimo disk, bobbins and perle cotton. The materials will cost around $20 . Students can also purchase kumihimo disks and 8 bobbins at Gig Harbor Beads (call first.) Perle cotton can be found at JoAnn Fabrics and Allyn Knit Shop. To start, each student should bring 4 hanks of embroidery floss (two contrasting colors). Friday, July 30 10 am – 12 noon At Jan’s studio 4 students max. THREE SESSION BATIK CLASS with KAREN PECK Learn the ancient technique of overlaying dye and wax resist on cloth, while creating fabric for pillows, book bags, or wall hangings. The Batik process is 2000 years old and pieces have been found in the eastern countries of Japan, China, India, Indonesia, and Africa. The most exciting part of the class is the intense review of color theory. $120 (includes fabric, wax, and dye). Tools will be provided for your use.
